[Barrett's ulcer: myths and realities].

Barrett's ulcer, a rare disease of elderly patients, is not a precancerous condition. It has a marked tendency to bleed but not to perforate. It seems to develop in the squamous epithelium of the lower esophagus and not in the columnar epithelium of the endobrachy esophagus.
