BACKGROUND
A rare but known adverse event following a cosmetic filler treatment is unilateral blindness. In the Netherlands, this complication has not been reported in a patient before.
CASE DESCRIPTION
A 26-year-old woman developed unilateral blindness after undergoing a cosmetic treatment of the dorsum nasi in which hyaluronic acid was used as filler. The blindness was caused by backflow of the filler via the ophthalmic artery into the carotid internal artery.
CONCLUSION
There is no proven effective treatment for this adverse event. Therefore prevention is of great importance. This requires knowledge of the anatomy of the facial blood vessels and a well-developed injection technique.
背景
美容填充剂治疗后出现的一种罕见但已知的不良事件是单侧失明。在荷兰，此前尚未有患者报告过这种并发症。
病例描述
一名26岁女性在接受鼻背部美容治疗（使用透明质酸作为填充剂）后出现单侧失明。失明是由于填充剂通过眼动脉逆流至颈内动脉所致。
结论
