The purpose of this study was to investigate the time-dependent effects of contrast medium on multi-dynamic, multi-echo (MDME) sequence in patients with brain metastases.
This study included 7 patients with 15 brain metastases who underwent magnetic resonance (MR) examination which included MDME sequences at 1 minute, 10 minutes and 20 minutes after contrast injection. Two volumes of interests, covering an entire tumor (whole tumor) and the enhancing portion of the tumor, were derived from post-contrast synthetic T1-weighted images. Statistical comparisons were performed for three different time delays for histogram parameters of the longitudinal relaxation rate (R) and the transverse relaxation rate (R), and lesion volumes.
The mean and the median of R and the mean of R in both the whole tumor and the inner enhancing portion were larger on the 10 minutes delayed images than on the 1 minute or 20 minutes delayed images (mean of R in the whole tumor on the 1 minute, 10 minutes, and 20 minutes delayed images: 1.26 ms, 1.39 ms, and 1.37 ms; mean of R in the inner enhancing portion: 1.43 ms, 1.53 ms and 1.44 ms; all < 0.017). The volumes of the whole tumor and the inner enhancing portion were significantly larger in the 10 minutes and 20 minutes delayed images than on the 1 minute delayed images (all < 0.017).
Magnetic resonance relaxation times and the volumes of the whole tumor and the inner enhancing portion were measured larger on the 10 minutes or 20 minutes delayed images than on the 1 minute delayed images. The MDME sequence immediately after contrast injection cannot fully reflect the effects of gadolinium-based contrast agent leakage in the tissue.
本研究旨在探讨对比剂在脑转移瘤患者多动态、多回波(MDME)序列中的时间依赖性效应。
本研究纳入 7 例 15 个脑转移瘤患者,所有患者均行 MRI 检查,包括注对比剂后 1 分钟、10 分钟和 20 分钟的 MDME 序列。从对比后合成 T1 加权图像中获得两个感兴趣区,分别覆盖整个肿瘤(全肿瘤)和肿瘤增强部分。对三个不同时间延迟的纵向弛豫率(R)和横向弛豫率(R)直方图参数以及病变体积进行统计学比较。
全肿瘤和内增强部分的 R 的平均值和中位数以及 R 的平均值在 10 分钟延迟图像上均大于 1 分钟或 20 分钟延迟图像(全肿瘤的 R 的平均值在 1 分钟、10 分钟和 20 分钟延迟图像上:1.26 ms、1.39 ms 和 1.37 ms;内增强部分的 R 的平均值:1.43 ms、1.53 ms 和 1.44 ms;均<0.017)。全肿瘤和内增强部分的体积在 10 分钟和 20 分钟延迟图像上明显大于 1 分钟延迟图像(均<0.017)。
