In this study, the clinical relevance of the levels of serum endocan and 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D] was investigated in patients with acute kidney injury (AKI). Endocan or the endothelial cell-specific molecule 1 is a soluble proteoglycan secreted by vascular endothelial cells. It plays a significant role in immunity, inflammation, and endothelial function.
A total of 39 patients with AKI (19 females, 20 males) and 38 healthy individuals (18 females, 20 males) were included in the study. The levels of serum endocan, vitamin D, and other biochemical parameters were compared between the two groups.
In the AKI group, the values of serum creatinine, endocan, parathormone, phosphorus, and uric acid were found to be higher, and the total protein, albumin, and calcium levels were lower compared to the control group. There was no difference between the two groups in terms of the serum vitamin D, magnesium, alkaline phosphatase, and gamma-glutamyl transferase.
In patients with AKI, an increased endocan level is a significant marker of inflammation and endothelial injury. In addition, these patients experience vitamin D deficiency.
本研究探讨急性肾损伤(AKI)患者血清内脂素和25-羟基维生素D [25(OH)D]水平的临床相关性。内脂素或内皮细胞特异性分子1是血管内皮细胞分泌的一种可溶性蛋白聚糖。它在免疫、炎症和内皮功能中起重要作用。
本研究共纳入39例AKI患者(19例女性,20例男性)和38例健康个体(18例女性,20例男性)。比较两组血清内脂素、维生素D及其他生化参数水平。
与对照组相比,AKI组血清肌酐、内脂素、甲状旁腺激素、磷和尿酸值较高,总蛋白、白蛋白和钙水平较低。两组血清维生素D、镁、碱性磷酸酶和γ-谷氨酰转移酶水平无差异。
在AKI患者中,内脂素水平升高是炎症和内皮损伤的重要标志物。此外,这些患者存在维生素D缺乏。
