Abstract

INTRODUCTION

Phlebitis, that disrupts chemotherapy, is the inflammation of the vein and the most common complication of intravenous injection of chemotherapy drugs.

AIM

the aim was determine the effect of topical application of N. sativa oil on the prevention of phlebitis caused by chemotherapy.

METHODS

This single-blind clinical trial was conducted on 60 cancer patients. In the intervention group, five drops of N. sativa oil was applied on the distal area of the catheter, two times per day and every 12 hours from the first day of chemotherapy to the third day; no intervention was conducted for the subjects in the control group.

RESULTS

Results showed that there was a significant difference between the two groups at 60 and 72 hours in regard with incidence of phlebitis. There was a statistically significant difference between the two groups at 12 and 72 hours in terms of severity (degree) of phlebitis.

CONCLUSION

topical application of N. sativa oil is effective in the prevention of chemotherapy-induced phlebitis.

摘要

引言

静脉炎会干扰化疗,是静脉的炎症,也是静脉注射化疗药物最常见的并发症。

目的

目的是确定局部应用黑种草籽油对预防化疗引起的静脉炎的效果。

方法

这项单盲临床试验对60名癌症患者进行。干预组从化疗第一天到第三天,每天两次、每12小时在导管远端区域涂抹五滴黑种草籽油;对照组的受试者不进行干预。

结果

结果显示,两组在静脉炎发生率方面,在60小时和72小时时有显著差异。两组在静脉炎严重程度方面,在12小时和72小时时有统计学显著差异。

结论

局部应用黑种草籽油对预防化疗引起的静脉炎有效。
