The stylohyoid ligament attaches to the styloid process of the temporal bone and extends to the cornu minus of the hyoid bone. An elongated styloid process, which is caused by increased calcification of the styloid process and/or the ligament (so-called stylohyoid complex), can measure an average of 3-4 cm in two-dimensional X-ray images such as the panoramic tomography.
茎突舌骨韧带附着于颞骨的茎突，并延伸至舌骨小角。茎突过长是由茎突和/或韧带（所谓的茎突舌骨复合体）钙化增加所致，在全景体层摄影等二维X线图像中，其平均长度可达3 - 4厘米。
