Abstract
In approximately half of the patients taking phenytoin, gingival fibroblasts proliferate, causing tissue overgrowth and gingival hyperplasia. Recent clinical and basic research is reviewed, describing the conditions associated with phenytoin therapy and gingival hyperplasia.
