Breed specific reference ranges for selected blood parameters are recommended for proper interpretation of blood tests, but there are only few reports dealing with ponies. The purpose of this study was to investigate if blood parameters differ among ponies' classes and to check if general normal values for equine species are applicable to ponies.
All, except total protein concentration, biochemical parameter significantly (p < 0.05) differed among ponies' classes. The most pronounced difference was noted in blood lactate concentrations, higher (p < 0.001) in the smallest ponies (class A). In all groups of ponies muscle enzymes (aspartate aminotransferase and creatine kinase) and urea were high when compared to normal values for equine species, but triglycerides and creatinine were low. Blood lactate concentration was high in comparison with normal values for horses only in class A ponies'.
In healthy ponies, blood lactate concentration significantly differs between height classes. Normal values for equine species should not be directly applied to interpret the lactate, triglycerides, aspartate aminotransferase and creatine kinase values in ponies.
为了正确解读血液检测结果,建议针对特定品种制定血液参数的专用参考范围,但目前仅有少量针对小型马的报告。本研究旨在调查不同品种小型马的血液参数是否存在差异,并检验是否可以将马属动物的一般正常值直接应用于小型马。
除总蛋白浓度外,所有生化参数在不同品种小型马间均存在显著差异(p<0.05)。血液乳酸浓度的差异最为显著,最小的小型马(A 类)乳酸浓度更高(p<0.001)。与马属动物的正常值相比,所有小型马组的肌肉酶(天冬氨酸氨基转移酶和肌酸激酶)和尿素均升高,但甘油三酯和肌酐降低。与马的正常值相比,仅 A 类小型马的血液乳酸浓度升高。
在健康的小型马中,不同身高品种间的血液乳酸浓度存在显著差异。不应直接将马属动物的正常值应用于解释小型马的乳酸、甘油三酯、天冬氨酸氨基转移酶和肌酸激酶值。
