Available methods for the determination of paraquat in plasma or serum require sophisticated laboratory equipment and give low recoveries and nonquantitative yields. The method reported here utilizes SepPak C18 cartridges to extract paraquat directly from plasma or serum without deproteinization. It gives complete recovery and does not require the construction of a standard curve.
