This study aimed to determine the impact of being without a job post-retirement on mental health (depression, life satisfaction) and behaviors (alcohol and cigarette). A cross-sectional study was conducted on 330 Ethiopians aged 60-69. Compared to workers, retirees without a job reported higher depression, lower life satisfaction, and hazardous drinking ( = .49, .39 and = .65, respectively). Hierarchical multiple regression analyses indicated that being without a job post-retirement was associated with depression and life dissatisfaction. Thus, greater emphasis has to be given to improve the mental health and behaviors of retired elderly.
本研究旨在确定退休后无工作对心理健康（抑郁、生活满意度）和行为（饮酒和吸烟）的影响。对330名60 - 69岁的埃塞俄比亚人进行了一项横断面研究。与在职人员相比，退休后无工作的人报告的抑郁程度更高、生活满意度更低以及存在危险饮酒行为（分别为 = 0.49、0.39和 = 0.65）。分层多元回归分析表明，退休后无工作与抑郁和生活不满意相关。因此，必须更加重视改善退休老年人的心理健康和行为。
