Abstract

OBJECTIVE

The aim of this review is to identify and assess the psychometric properties of patient-reported outcome measures of health-related quality of life in people living with HIV.

INTRODUCTION

Some reviews have been conducted to identify generic and HIV-specific health-related, quality-of-life measures in people living with HIV. However, these studies did not report the psychometric properties of patient-reported outcome measures, making it difficult for researchers to choose one measure from the existing measures to assess health-related quality of life. This review will highlight various psychometric properties of the validation studies rather than reporting the content of measures.

INCLUSION CRITERIA

We will consider studies that validate patient-reported outcome measures of health-related quality of life in people living with HIV and evaluate one or more measurement proprieties. Studies published in English or Chinese and conducted in any country or setting will be eligible for inclusion.

METHODS

PubMed, Embase (Ovid), CINAHL (EBSCO), PsycINFO (EBSCO), Web of Science, ProQuest Dissertations and Theses, Cochrane CENTRAL (Wiley), Wanfang, and CNKI will be searched from January 1, 1996 to the present. The evaluation of measurement properties, data extraction, and data synthesis will be conducted according to JBI methodology.
