By means of the method for formation of quail-hen transplantation chimeras , contribution of the neural crest cells in the eye development has been studied in early avian embryos. In 6-9 day-old chimeras the neural crest cells participate in formation of the eye sclera and ciliary body, and they also form corneal endothelium and stroma.
