The aim of this study was to assess and compare the optic nerve, retina, and retinal vessel parameters in recovered COVID-19 patients and healthy patients by using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCT-a).
In all, 156 eyes of post-COVID-19 patients and 98 eyes of subjects from a control group were enrolled in our study. BCVA, intra ocular pressure (IOP) measurement, fundus examination, and OCT images, including macular cube, OCT-RNFL, and angio-OCT 6 × 6 mm examinations, were performed for both groups. The measurements were acquired using Swept Source OCT DRI OCT Triton. In the post-COVID-19 group, 762 OCT protocols were obtained. For statistical analysis, parameters from only one eye from each subject were taken.
In the measured parameters, no significant differences were observed, i.e., central macular thickness ( = 0.249); RNFL ( = 0.104); FAZ ( = 0.63); and vessel density of superficial retinal vascular plexus in central ( = 0.799), superior ( = 0.767), inferior ( = 0.526), nasal ( = 0.402), and temporal ( = 0.582) quadrants. Furthermore, a slit-lamp examination did not reveal any COVID-19-related abnormalities.
OCT examination did not detect any significant changes in morphology or morphometry of the optic nerve, retina, or the retina vessels due to COVID-19.

本研究共纳入156只新冠肺炎康复患者的眼睛和98只来自对照组受试者的眼睛。对两组均进行了最佳矫正视力(BCVA)、眼压(IOP)测量、眼底检查以及OCT图像检查,包括黄斑立方体、OCT-视网膜神经纤维层(RNFL)和6×6mm血管OCT检查。测量使用扫频源OCT DRI OCT Triton进行。在新冠肺炎康复组中,共获得762份OCT检查方案。统计分析时,取每个受试者仅一只眼睛的参数。
在所测量的参数中,未观察到显著差异,即中心黄斑厚度(P = 0.249);视网膜神经纤维层(P = 0.104);黄斑无血管区(P = 0.63);以及中心(P = 0.799)、上方(P = 0.767)、下方(P = 0.526)、鼻侧(P = 0.402)和颞侧(P = 0.582)象限的视网膜浅血管丛血管密度。此外,裂隙灯检查未发现任何与新冠肺炎相关的异常。
OCT检查未发现新冠肺炎对视神经、视网膜或视网膜血管的形态或形态测量有任何显著变化。
