In vitro activation of erythrocyte aspartate aminotransferase (EC 2.6.1.1) activity by pyridoxal phosphate was used to assess vitamin B6 nutritional status in forty Sudanese women taking combined, low-dose oral contraceptives (oestrogen-progestogen; OC) and in thirty healthy, non-pregnant women not taking OC. 2. Fourteen (35%) out of forty OC users showed apparent vitamin B6 deficiency. 3. Side-effects associated with OC were more common among the apparently vitamin-B6-deficient OC users than among OC users and non-OC users not deficient in vitamin B6.

采用磷酸吡哆醛对红细胞天冬氨酸氨基转移酶（EC 2.6.1.1）活性进行体外激活，以评估40名服用复方低剂量口服避孕药（雌激素 - 孕激素；OC）的苏丹女性和30名未服用OC的健康未孕女性的维生素B6营养状况。2. 40名服用OC的女性中有14名（35%）表现出明显的维生素B6缺乏。3. 与OC相关的副作用在明显维生素B6缺乏的OC使用者中比在维生素B6不缺乏的OC使用者和未服用OC的使用者中更常见。
