Abstract

RATIONALE

Occurrence of peripheral ameloblastoma (PA) is rare. Excision of PA by diode laser is infrequent.

PATIENT CONCERNS

A 27-year-old female patient presented with an asymptomatic mass on the retromolar trigone for the past one year.

DIAGNOSIS

Incisional biopsy showed aggressive PA.

TREATMENT

The lesion was excised using a diode laser under local anaesthesia. The excised specimen revealed histopathological features of the acanthomatous variant of PA.

OUTCOMES

The patient was followed up for two years without any evidence of recurrence.

TAKE-AWAY LESSONS: Diode laser is an acceptable alternative to conventional scalpel excision for intraoral soft tissue lesions, whereas, in the case of PA, it proves to be no exception.

理论依据

外周型成釉细胞瘤（PA）的发生较为罕见。使用二极管激光切除PA的情况并不常见。

患者情况

一名27岁女性患者，在过去一年里，磨牙后三角区出现了一个无症状肿块。

诊断

切开活检显示为侵袭性PA。

治疗

在局部麻醉下，使用二极管激光切除病变。切除的标本显示出PA棘皮瘤型的组织病理学特征。

结果

经验教训

对于口腔内软组织病变，二极管激光是传统手术刀切除的一种可接受的替代方法，而对于PA，事实证明也不例外。
