Abstract

The endoscopic and morphological changes in esophagus of 71 patients with ulcer disease, accompanied with gastroesophageal reflux were studied, with following up of 10 histological signs in the multi-layer pavement epithelium of esophagus at the same time quantitatively evaluated. It has been established that morphological signs of esophagitis develop in case of gastroesophageal reflux among ulcer patients to 53.5%, being twice more frequent in duodenal ulcer than in gastric. Among the histological signs of reflux-esophagitis higher papillae were established, as well as thickening of the basal-cellular layer, vacuolization of spinous-like and granular layer, parakeratosis. Granulocytic infiltration was established in reflux-esophagitis with pronounced endoscopic destructive changes.
