Using Lacanian theory, Macario Giraldo pays attention to two dialogues: the dialogue IN the group (the conscious and preconscious ego narrative) versus the dialogue OF the group (the dialogue of the unconscious). Lacan's three registers of Real, Imaginary, and Symbolic are presented as background. The therapist's listening is guided by the central concept of desire and how to access it through the uses of language in the group. Examples from the group vignette are selected as manifestation of the two dialogues.
