The tranquilizers diazepam, nitrazepam, chlordiazepoxid and elroquil produce diverse effects on conflict interaction of the systems of brain reinforcement subjected to simultaneous electric stimulation. The anxiolytic action of diazepam and chlordiazepoxid on behavior is determined by displacement of the activity balance of the systems of reinforcement to the system of positive reinforcement. Prevalent activity of the system of punishment in the action of elroquil accounts for its lower tranquilizing effect.
