Rubber seed kernel is a by-product of rubber cultivation and are high in oil and protein. This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of supplementing rubber seed kernel pellet (RUSKEP) on feed intake, nutrient digestibility, rumen fermentation, rumen fatty acid profiles, blood parameters, and immune response in swamp buffalo.
Four male swamp buffalo with an initial body weight (BW) of 254±10 kg and 26 months of age were used in this research. The experimental design was a 4×4 Latin squared design with RUSKEP supplementation at 0%, 4%, 6%, and 8% of dry matter intake (DMI). Animals were fed concentrate at 1.0% BW, while rice straw was fed ad libitum.
Supplementation with RUSKEP did not change DMI or nutrient digestibility (p>0.05), while ether extract digestibility increased cubically with the addition of RUSKEP (p<0.01). The ruminal pH, ammonia-nitrogen (NH3-N), and the proportion of acetate (C2) were similar among treatments (p>0.05). The proportion of propionate (C3) increased linearly (p≤0.04), leading to a decrease in the acetate to propionate ratio (C2:C3) (p≤0.04) with the addition of RUSKEP. Furthermore, the butyrate (C4) proportion decreased linearly with RUSKEP supplementation (p = 0.03). The addition of RUSKEP did not affect on linoleic acid (C18:2 cis-9,12+trans-9,12), or α-linolenic acid (C18:3 cis9,12,15) (p>0.05). With RUSKEP supplementation, the stearic acid (C18:0) content increased quadratically (p<0.01). The increasing level of RUSKEP was higher in cholesterol and eosinophils (p≤0.03). The immune function (IgA, IgM, and IgG) was similar among treatments (p>0.05).
Supplementing RUSKEP with up to 8% of DMI could improve rumen fermentation efficiency without affecting feed utilization, rumen PUFA profile, or immune response in swamp buffalo.
橡胶籽仁是橡胶种植的副产品,富含油脂和蛋白质。本研究旨在评估添加橡胶籽仁颗粒(RUSKEP)对沼泽水牛采食量、养分消化率、瘤胃发酵、瘤胃脂肪酸谱、血液参数和免疫反应的影响。
本研究选用4头初始体重(BW)为254±10 kg、年龄为26个月的雄性沼泽水牛。试验设计为4×4拉丁方设计,RUSKEP添加量分别为干物质采食量(DMI)的0%、4%、6%和8%。动物按体重的1.0%饲喂精料,稻草自由采食。
添加RUSKEP对DMI或养分消化率无影响(p>0.05),而随着RUSKEP添加量增加,乙醚提取物消化率呈三次方增加(p<0.01)。各处理间瘤胃液pH值、氨氮(NH3-N)和乙酸比例(C2)相似(p>0.05)。随着RUSKEP添加量增加,丙酸比例(C3)呈线性增加(p≤0.04),导致乙酸与丙酸比例(C2:C3)降低(p≤0.04)。此外,随着RUSKEP添加量增加,丁酸比例(C4)呈线性降低(p = 0.03)。添加RUSKEP对亚油酸(C18:2 cis-9,12+trans-9,12)或α-亚麻酸(C18:3 cis9,12,15)无影响(p>0.05)。随着RUSKEP添加量增加,硬脂酸(C18:0)含量呈二次方增加(p<0.01)。随着RUSKEP添加量增加,胆固醇和嗜酸性粒细胞水平升高(p≤0.03)。各处理间免疫功能(IgA、IgM和IgG)相似(p>0.05)。
添加高达DMI 8%的RUSKEP可提高瘤胃发酵效率,而不影响沼泽水牛的饲料利用率、瘤胃多不饱和脂肪酸谱或免疫反应。
