Early diagnosis of a primary tumor and recognition of recurrence are often facilitated if the examining physician is proficient in identifying skin metastases. The site, histologic pattern, and clinical presentation of the lesion are all key variables in diagnosis. Of tumors that metastasize to the skin, carcinomas from the kidney, lung, ovary, and pancreas have a greater tendency to present with skin metastases.
