Artificial hair implantation is a popular yet controversial procedure owing to its inconclusive safety profile, with many complications such as infections, scarring, foreign body rejection, and loss of natural hair, leading to the ongoing ban on this technique in some countries. To date, three cases of squamous cell carcinoma after prosthetic fiber implantation have been reported in the literature. While insufficient data exists to establish an existing causal relationship, the significance of such a health consequence warrants further investigation and caution before applying this technique to patients. Here, we report two new cases of squamous cell carcinoma of the scalp related to synthetic hair implantation and provide a brief review of the topic.
