The title compound, 3-chloro-propio-phenone (or 3-chloro-1-phenyl-propan-1-one), CHClO, consists of an almost planar mol-ecule that is charaterized by very small torsion angles within the alkyl side chain (torsion angles < 6.3°). No hydrogen bonds are observed in the crystal packing. The compound exhibits a melting point of 54°C.
