Abstract

BACKGROUND

A range of esthetically pleasing restorative materials for clinical use has evolved as a result of the growing need for esthetics in dentistry. The color stability of the material remains problematic due to its susceptibility to both external and intrinsic influences, even with the numerous improvements made to the physical and chemical properties of resin-based composite filler materials. One such material introduced was the Kedo E Max Pedo shade nanocomposite material, exclusively for use in primary teeth. There are no studies to date that have evaluated the color stability of this nanocomposite material. Hence, the present study aimed at evaluating the effect of commonly consumed beverages by children on the color stability of the newer Pedo shade nanocomposite material for use in pediatric dental practice.

MATERIALS AND METHODS

Thirty composite disks measuring about 10 mm in diameter and 2 mm in thickness were prepared using a Teflon mold. The specimens in group A were immersed in milk, and those in group B in orange juice. The color of each specimen was measured using a spectrophotometer on the 3rd, 7th, and 14th days.

RESULTS

A consistent decrease in color stability was noted as time progressed within the milk and orange juice groups. No statistically significant difference in color stability was observed between the milk and orange juice groups at any of the observed time points.

CONCLUSION

Both milk and orange juice show a continual decline in the color stability of the Kedo E Max Pedo shade nanocomposite material in children.

CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE

Clinical investigations are essential to predict the durability and acceptability of the new Pedo shade nanocomposite material.

背景

材料与方法

使用聚四氟乙烯模具制备30个直径约10毫米、厚度约2毫米的复合圆盘。A组标本浸泡在牛奶中,B组标本浸泡在橙汁中。在第3天、第7天和第14天使用分光光度计测量每个标本的颜色。

结果

随着时间的推移,牛奶组和橙汁组的颜色稳定性均持续下降。在任何观察时间点,牛奶组和橙汁组之间的颜色稳定性均未观察到统计学上的显著差异。

结论

牛奶和橙汁都会使儿童使用的Kedo E Max Pedo色纳米复合材料的颜色稳定性持续下降。

临床意义

临床研究对于预测新型Pedo色纳米复合材料的耐久性和可接受性至关重要。
