A serological survey was carried out to determine the incidence of rubella antibodies in sera from 725 normal Danish school children aged 5-18. The children were randomly selected and serve as an urban reference population. Rubella antibodies were measured by an enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The study shows that immunity rose with increasing age of the children to a level of 85 percent in the age group 16-18 years. There was no significant difference between the sexes.
