Hypertension, a global health issue affecting over 1 billion people, is rapidly increasing in India, impacting cardiovascular health and healthcare systems. The prevalence ranges from 20-40% in urban areas to 12-17% in rural populations.
This study evaluated the impact of a Comprehensive Nursing Care Package on hypertension in 300 patients at a Chennai hospital, using a modified SF-36 health survey questionnaire.
The study found that the experimental group showed greater reductions in systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), and improvement in lifestyle practice and quality of life compared to the control group. The majority of patients were male (60% and 59.33%) and Hindu (46% and 48%).
The Comprehensive Nursing Care Package significantly reduced SBP and DBP, and improved lifestyle practices and improved quality of life in the experimental group compared to the control group.
