Abstract

Combining , and var. Rubrum, Trikatu essential oil (TREO) exhibits promise as an inhaled aromatherapy agent with a range of biological activities. The antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anxiolytic, and neuroprotective properties of the bioactive compounds in TREO are reviewed in this article along with scientific evidence supporting them. According to analysis, substances like β-Caryophyllene α-Pinene, linalool, D-Limonene, and Eucalyptol can interact with important molecular targets, such as GABA, CB2, and 5-HT, 5-HT, 5-HT receptors, also inhibits 5-HT receptor, which are involved in the regulation of anxiety and the protection of brain. Furthermore, these substances work in concert to inhibit oxidative stress, lower the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines like TNF-α and IL-1β, and promote neuroplasticity through the BDNF pathway. The synergistic effects of TREO offer more potential than when used on its own, particularly when it comes to reducing inflammation, oxidative stress, and nervous system modulation. Essential oils in TREO are typically extracted through hydro-distillation with the Clevenger apparatus, which help preserve the integrity of volatile active constituents. The potential of TREO as an aromatherapy agent is assessed in this article along with its chemical composition, biological activities, and potential uses in promoting both physical and mental well-being.
