Endothelial cell counts were performed postoperatively in superior, central, and inferior areas of the cornea in 59 patients. No regional differences were found in a series of 23 preoperative control cataract eyes. A definite, large density disparity was noted in 58 of the 59 postoperative corneas studied. Disparity was high nine years as well as two weeks postoperatively. These data indicated that necessity for accuracy of positioning in postoperative comparison studies and the necessity for regional cell counts before secondary surgical procedures.
