The paper describes the symptomatology, pathophysiology, diagnostics and therapy of neonatal hypoglycemia. Early diagnosis is required to prevent brain damage due to hypoglycemia. In addition to conventional enzymatic blood glucose determination a new test strip sensitive for lower concentrations enables the diagnosis exactly.
