Abstract

The results of the study of interferon production after multiple administrations of various interferon inducers in mice are presented. Irrespective of the type of inducer, the state of refractoriness developed 2-3 days after the 1st administration of the inducer due to which repeated administrations of the inducers due to which repeated administrations of the inducers for up to 6 days did not induce significant amounts of interferon; on the contrary, a 30-fold decrease of interferon production was observed. Daily administration of the inducers for 4 and 6 times did not result in the overcoming or prolongation of the state of refractoriness. Different schedules of multiple inducer administrations were tested. Better results were obtained after administration of a double-stranded RNA at 1, 3, 6, and 8 days yielding high levels of interferon production after each administration of the inducer.
