A method is described for the rapid determination of vitamin A in vitamin-concentrates, precursors and mineral supplements. After saponification of the sample, the vitamin A is extracted with petroleum-ether. In this extract the vitamin A is determined spectrophotometrically by HPLC without further clean-up.
