Abstract

The goal of this article is to provide a broad and updated review of the major research studies on alcoholism, and it is intended especially for those who are new to the area or whose work in it is limited. It is primarily an update and extension of the literature review presented by Armor, Polich, and Stambul in their 1978 book Alcoholism and Treatment.
