Rat experiments have shown that adaptation to acute thermal effects increases the functional ability of the heart and blood circulation. This results in an increased thermal tolerance and hypoxic resistance of the myocardium. The prophylactic effect of acute thermal exposures during hypokinesia is related to a significant reduction of the level of metabolic and functional changes in the heart and skeletal muscles during diminished motor activity.
