Abstract

The theme of the symposium is identified by 2 questions: (1) is the mechanism that underlies functional amblyopia sensory or motor? and (2) How do sensory and motor factors contribute to the loss of acuity in amblyopic eyes? The answers to these questions as well as to several questions about clinical diagnosis and treatment of amblyopia are provided in the following 7 papers and panel discussion that comprise this symposium.
