Use of the balloon-tipped pulmonary artery catheter in pulmonary disease.

Use of the balloon-tipped (Swan-Ganz) pulmonary artery catheter has increased in recent years. The device has three fundamental applications: pressure measurement, flow measurement, and blood sampling.
