[Thymus-dependent therapeutic immunosuppression in multiple sclerosis and myasthenia].

Fifty patients with myasthenia and disseminated sclerosis were treated by ultrasound and hydrocortisone applications to the thymus region. In the course of the treatment changes of rosette formation and the content of immunoglobulins and total complement in the serum were examined. A selective action of the local immunodepression on the T-system was revealed. The method is recommended for use in cases of contraindications to total immunodepressant therapy or to oral use of corticosteroids, as well as for treating outpatients.
