Systemic Candida infection from the gastrointestinal tract was examined in mice. Candida albicans was undetectable in the blood, lungs, spleen, liver or kidneys of mice 24 hr after oral Candida administration even under condition of severe damage to the host defence system, but became detectable in the liver and kidneys of mice when they received combined treatment of antibiotics, x-ray irradiation and dexamethasone 3 and 5 days after oral Candida administration.
在小鼠中研究了来自胃肠道的全身性念珠菌感染。口服念珠菌后24小时，即使在宿主防御系统严重受损的情况下，小鼠的血液、肺、脾、肝或肾中也未检测到白色念珠菌，但在口服念珠菌后3天和5天接受抗生素、X射线照射和地塞米松联合治疗时，小鼠的肝脏和肾脏中可检测到白色念珠菌。
