Basing on the results of a prevalence study, carried out 1979 on 2,800 inhabitants of Vienna at the age of 25, 40 and 60 years respectively, frequencies of cardiovascular diseases and their epidemiologic relations to medical and social risk factors are dealt with. Special attention is given to hypertension.
