An alimentary instrumental conditioned reflex was elaborated in four dogs to electrical stimulation of the septum medial and lateral areas. Elaboration proceeded differently depending on localization of the stimulating electrode: in response to electrical stimulation of the medial septal area it was achieved more rapidly than to stimulation of the lateral area. Typical inhibitory effects of food-procuring reactions to stimulation of the lateral area were recorded, which disappeared in the process of conditioning. The elaborated stable conditioned reflex could be extinguished and restored.
