In vitro neutralizing capacity of commercially available antacid mixtures, and their role in the treatment of peptic ulcer.

An in vitro technique has been used to determine the neutralizing capacity of liquid antacids. Many locally available preparations have been tested, and the results indicate that they vary strikingly in both neutralizing capacity and cost. This study re-emphasizes the place of antacids in peptic ulcer therapy.
