Domestic care can be provided by relatives, the social net or professional care givers. Even before the new German Care Insurance starts paying, the part of the family in care giving is immense. The readiness for care-giving exists in general, but depends on local and temporal possibilities. This is even clearer by differentiating between care-getting persons in single- and non-single households, irrespective of the degree of illness, are mainly looked after by relatives. The care for people living in single households is mostly provided by professionals.
