Absorbable subcuticular sutures are widely used, being cosmetically attractive and avoiding the need for suture material. They have, however, generally been locked with buried knots that can cause a chronic granulomatous lesion. A suture is described that avoids the use of knots and their complications but is secure. It has been used successfully in over 500 cases. The suture technique and its widespread applications are described.
