In October, 1993, Dr. Miguel Oyonarte started his 2-year term as President of Sociedad Médica de Santiago (Chilean Internal Medicine Association). Dr. Oyonarte, Professor of Medicine at the University of Chile School of Medicine and Chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine (Central Campus), Hospital San Borja-Arriarán, is a certified internist and a distinguished cardiologist, with post-graduate training in Liverpool, UK, and in the USA. The first enterprise that Dr. Oyonarte successfully achieved during his mandate was to set up the new building for the Sociedad, recently inaugurated with the presence of the President of the Republic and the Minister of Health.
