Testis tissues from 13 cases of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) were studied by light-microscopy and immunogold-silver staining (IGSS). Under routine light microscopy, the pathological lesions were found frequently in the spermatogenic epithelia, the basement membrane in the seminiferous tubules, and the mesenchyme around the tubules. Immunohistochemical studies showed that there were immune complexes (IgG) deposited mainly in the basement membrane in the tubules and interstitial cells, endothelial cells, and red cells of the small vessels around tubules mesenchyme. The injury mechanism is that the immuno complexes (IgG) are deposited in testis tissues from HFRS autopsies.
