The paper is concerned with a study of 4 cases of Gaillet-Wernicke alcoholic encephalopathy. In all cases there was a profound liver pathology. The changes found in the brain were quite typical for this disease, although they differed in the degree and severity of the vessel damage, glial elements and neurons. In one case there was a "hepatic" glia and in one (developing with hemochromatosis) - a deposition of iron salts, especially in the area of posterior hypothalamus and in the crus cerebri tentorium.
