The delta-receptors agonist DSLET inhibited immune responses in the CBA mice. The immunosuppression was shown to be due to an interaction with the serotoninergic system. No immunostimulating effect of the delta-opioid receptors antagonist ICI 174,864 occurred in the animals with dissection of the pituitary stalk. The immunostimulation was shown to be realised via the thymus and prevented by a preliminary haloperidol blockade of the D-2 dopaminergic receptors. The cerebral delta-opioid receptors seem to participate in neuro-immunomodulation through the interaction with the serotonin and dopamine neurotransmitter systems.
