With the current emphasis in healthcare delivery on patient outcomes and quality care, infusion therapy nurses and managers must use effective quality improvement processes. This article reviews the terminology associated with the quality improvement processes, provides a brief overview of methods for identification of "quality improvement areas" in infusion therapy activities, and offers monitoring examples for those who are evaluating quality care delivery.
