[Health promotion in Polish schools].

The health of the people is the basis of prosperity and development of the country. In 1986 the Ottawa Charta was resolved. Poland has already adopted the concept of the "health promoting# school in 1992. Promotion of health is a process whereby the population can achieve better control of their health status. The educational reform in Poland explored three avenues: health education, ecology, and social behaviour. The modern and manifold programmes of health promotion and ecology in schools are being realised, taking into consideration all the aspects of health care and protection of the environment, healthy style of living, responsibility for one's own health, knowledge of all disciplines of health.
