[Aging and technology].

This contribution focusses on coping with everyday technology which is embedded in the broader framework of age-friendly environments. The majority of the elderly has to make use of everyday technology (bank tellar machines, ticket machines, TV and video recorder and remote controls, hightech phones, fax machines) in order to live an independent and competent life. There are much more studies investigating acceptance of and attitudes towards modern technology than empirical studies which turn to the concrete question how to cope with modern technology in the behavioral domain. Studies of this kind identify problems in using technology and derive intervention procedures which offer possibilities, potentials and options for the user. Some results from own studies of the latter kind are presented and some suggestions are given regarding transgenerational design of everyday technology.
