In order to study the risks involved with advanced maternal age, pregnancy and delivery of all the women after forty (n = 551) who attended the Obstetrical and Gynecological Clinic of the Palermo University from January 1, 1981 to December 31, 1990 have been examined.
A control group, consisting of women aged 21 to 26 (n = 7980) who attended the Clinic during the same time period, was used for comparison. Each group was analysed for the following parameters: pregnancy complications, time and outcome of deliveries, rate and indications for cesarean section, neonatal outcomes.
The results show no significant differences in the factors analysed between the two groups observed, except for an increased rate of abortions and Cesarean sections in the study group and an increased rate of premature rupture of membranes in the control group.
为研究高龄产妇的相关风险，对1981年1月1日至1990年12月31日期间在巴勒莫大学妇产科诊所就诊的所有40岁及以上女性（n = 551）的妊娠和分娩情况进行了检查。
选取同期在该诊所就诊的21至26岁女性（n = 7980）作为对照组进行比较。对每组分析以下参数：妊娠并发症、分娩时间和结局、剖宫产率及指征、新生儿结局。
结果显示，除研究组流产率和剖宫产率升高以及对照组胎膜早破率升高外，两组观察到的分析因素无显著差异。
