A comparison between on the prevalence of smoking during pregnancy in 1982 and that in 1993 in Pelotas, Southern Brazil.
Cross-sectional study. All hospital deliveries in 1982 and 1993--corresponding to over 99% of all births in those years--were studied. A total of 6,011 and 5,304 mothers were interviewed, respectively.
The prevalence of smoking during pregnancy showed a small decrease from 35.7% in 1982 to 33.5% in 1993 (p < 0.05). In the two years under study, family income and number of antenatal care visits were inversely associated with the prevalence of maternal smoking. The rate of stopping smoking during pregnancy was 20.6%.

横断面研究。对1982年和1993年所有医院分娩情况进行研究,这两年的医院分娩数占当年所有分娩数的99%以上。分别对6011名和5304名母亲进行了访谈。
孕期吸烟的流行率略有下降,从1982年的35.7%降至1993年的33.5%(p<0.05)。在研究的两年中,家庭收入和产前检查次数与孕妇吸烟流行率呈负相关。孕期戒烟率为20.6%。
